Connecting pi-top[4] to a monitor via microHDMI

How to connect pi-top[4] to a monitor using an off-the-shelf microHDMI to HDMI cable

In general we recommend using pi-top 4 from a separate laptop or computer, rather than using a monitor,  for which we have a variety of Connection Methods. It's even possible to access the pi-top's desktop remotely via these methods. However sometimes you may still want a direct monitor connection. This guide covers connecting with your own microHDMI to HDMI cable, rather than the pi-top Display Cable.

Source a MicroHDMI to HDMI cable

Plug the HDMI end of your cable into your monitor

Plug the Micro-HDMI end of your cable into your pi-top [4]

Connect your keyboard and mouse

Use the USB ports on your pi-top to attach keyboard and mouse.
